My values and purpose
I find deep meaning in one-to-one conversations. I value being fully present with a person, listening with care, learning about their world, and understanding what matters to them. This way of being allows for real connection, where thoughts and feelings can be explored with openness and curiosity.
I believe that collaboration is key to making sense of difficulties and supporting meaningful change. My approach is informed by pluralism, which values flexibility in recognising multiple truths and perspectives. This embodies an ethical and practical dedication to diversity, embracing the positive aspects of differences and the importance of communication. In therapy, such flexibility can help clients gain distance from what feels overwhelming and often brings hidden feelings or interpretations into awareness.
I prioritise offering a therapeutic relationship that is safe, respectful, and non-judgemental. I aim to offer a space where clients can be themselves and feel held in their experiences. When helpful, I draw on psychological theory, research, and psychometric tools to better understand what is going on and track progress in therapy. I consider these tools carefully, always guided by each client’s unique needs and goals.
I am moved by how often people feel they must live up to others’ expectations, losing touch with who they really are. I want to offer a space where clients feel seen and understood, and where we can work together to heal past wounds and strengthen their sense of self.
My languages
I am bilingual. Cantonese is my mother tongue and most of my education delivered in English. I’m fascinated by how beliefs and assumptions are shaped by culture, and how my curiosity and multicultural competence support clients in exploring new perspectives.
